Resources Management
Resources can be defined as anything that will help you solve the problem that you are focusing on. It might be in the form of people, places, services, and businesses. You can start from the community that your problem is based on. It is suggested that everyone in the community can be a force for community improvement if only we knew what their capabilities are and use it to reach your goal.
There are five types of resources available to an organization:
Human resources - can contribute expertise or make connections on behalf of the organization Capital resources - goods or services that can aid in the production of other goods Financial resources - money Natural resources - land, income-generating activities based on land Informational resources - knowing what you need to know to succeed
Things to consider when looking at resources:
Utility - the usefulness of a resource, not everything you have is useful though Scarcity - how much of the resources are available Potential for Depletion - how soon are you going to run out of your resource
Questions for yourself:
What are your existing resources? What resources do you need? When you look around your community, at the work of other organizations, where do they receive their support? Are you aware of how to obtain support?
